An Hour in the Life

A few weeks ago I found a post on Clickin' Moms called 'A Day in the Life' in which a fabulously talented photographer turned her camera around to her own family for a day. It was so simple - shots of her girls playing on the floor in the morning, some sidewalk chalk in the afternoon, her husband reading the paper, a walk to the park at dusk. So simple. And so. very. beautiful. I have a very strong love for 'lifestyle' photography. Catching those regular moments in life in such a beautiful, artistic way, speaks to me. After all, there is so much to love in the everyday. If photographs are meant to spark a memory long after our own memories have forgotten, why do we leave only those posed, smiling faces to guide us to our past?

I hope to find the time to do a full Day in the Life project soon. But for now, I decided to devote an hour and see what my crazy, beautiful life looked like. Just as it is.

Disclaimer. No children were harmed in the making of these photographs. Ok, wait. That's a lie. Charlie got a nasty bruise on his calf when he undershot a jump and hit the bed rail. But... he faked the photo where he's making a grimacing face while smashing into his bed. He just really wanted me to take a shot like that.
